Ensnared

This still was made as an entry into CGSociety's Amazing Creations contest. It employs mostly ZBrush 2 for the body, and Maya for modeling the cables. The translucent effect is achieved via Mental Ray's Dielectric shader and photon map as well as the Parti_Volume shader. The energy and fog effects were then composited in Photoshop CS2. A short clip showing a fly around is available below.


Development
After sketching the body in ZBrush, posing in Maya, and refining stressed muscle groups in ZBrush again, ideas are Photoshop'd on. Participating volume and dielectric glass shader settings are tweaked - also, first cables are modeled. Body look finalized, most cables drawn in now. Preliminary photoshop ideas for atmosphere and energy effect.
 
All jacks on the ends of their respective cables are finished, just testing out more photoshop ideas. And another. More or less the idea I like, and with some changes to lighting and fog we get the final image below.
