Objective Individual Combat Weapon

The OICW (Objective Individual Combat Weapon) here was completely developed in Maya 6 via boxmodeling, booleans, and splines. The end result was to be included in a mod for Rainbow 6: Raven Shield called The Ravenshield Community Mod Project which unfortunately stagnated and effectively died when Ubisoft, after many months of promises, declined to release an official SDK. The model is 1486 faces, and required about 15 hours to model.

Development

One of many simple reference images procured from the internet.

Box modeling yielded the first of many parts of the gun. Shown here is the assault rifle module and magazine. The grenade launching part of the gun is created. Also, refinements to the rifle are added, such as the muzzle and various moving parts.

Composite view of the OICW wireframe and solid model in Maya's viewport. The gun is in its final form here, including the computerized scope on top. As no final texture was ever created (the RCMP mod died before this was necessary,) this is the final render sans any skin. And another view.

A composite shot released to other members of the RCMP community at the time, featuring in game screen-shots. Note that the textures depicted were existing ones pulled from Ravenshield.
