2 Turntables and a Mixer

These 2 turntables and a mixer were modeled off of my actual set. This is the first serious project I ever made in any sort of professional modeling software, with all previous experience being restricted to various game-specific map editors over the years. The model was created and animated in Maya 6, and the textures were edited in Photoshop 7 for color and light levels after being taken with an Olympus 550. One turntable and the mixer is about 2600 faces, mostly in the stylus hub area, and took about 10 hours to make.

Development

Rough idea of the turntable model. Click to enlarge, as most of the detail resides in the upper-right corner where the stylus arm meets the table.

More refinements to the aforementioned area of detail, each part is articulated and can be moved akin to the real thing. Here the mixer has been added, and both have been textured from pictures taken from a digital camera and modified for levels in Photoshop 7.

Composite view of the turntables' wireframe and solid model in Maya's viewport. This is the final version sans a few tweaks to the texture and animation. Above are most of the textures that went into this model. That LP in the middle one is a particularly good German import on the Tracid Traxxx label.

A moody final spotlit render with some phong applied to the stylus arm mechanisms. ...and another ...and one more.
